Hannes Knapp studied law at the University of Vienna. As part of his studies, he also gained an additional degree in public commercial law by specializing in regulatory affairs and industrial law.
During his studies, he completed an internship in the legal department of the information and internet services company, telegate AG in Munich, Germany. From January 2010 to September 2012, he worked as a legal practitioner at JUCONOMY Attorneys at Law in Vienna. Since October 2012, he is an associate at Lichtenberger & Partner Attorneys at Law.
In November 2016, Mr Knapp has successfully completed the bar examination.
His main practice areas are in telecommunications law, postal law, energy law (in particular in the field of "Smart Metering" and "Smart Grids" consultancy), traffic law, data protection law, e-commerce law and contract law with focus on Internet and IT-contracts.
Parallel to his activity as an associate, he is working on his doctoral thesis at the Institute for Austrian and European Public Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. The focus of his thesis is on the (re-)definition of subjective public rights by the European Court of Justice in the area of regulatory law.
